This is the Editor's own open letter to Islanders:

Good afternoon,

I'm sure most of you have heard by now that Jerry Widdowson (from Hayling Print) and I are launching a new community newspaper for Hayling Island, The Hayling Herald.

It's taken a lot of work to get things off the ground but the first edition is due to hit the streets in the first week of October.

We would really like you all to be a part of the newspaper because we will only succeed with your contributions.

The Herald will celebrate everything that makes Hayling such a fantastic place to live, work and play.

Do you have a story you think Islanders should know about? Are you holding an event you would like people involved in? Would you like to advertise your business with us? Or perhaps become one of our volunteer distributors in your street?

Let me know, or pop in to see Jerry at Hayling Print in Elm Grove.
