Portsmouth Waterworks!

Portsmouth Water will be carrying out some water mains renewal works on St. Leonard's Avenue, Works No. H3955. The works will begin the 5th February 2018 and in total these are planned to take 10 weeks.

Relevant information from Porstmouth Water for anyone concerned is as follows:

  • Throughout the planning stage Portsmouth Water has liaised closely with Hampshire County Council when planning the work. It was identified that two-way traffic lights may be required whilst works take place in the highway to ensure the safety of our operatives and road users, in this event we will ensure that disruption is kept to a minimum.

  • To minimise disruption to our customers we will be using trenchless methods known as pipe-bursting and slip-lining to replace the water main where possible.

  • We aim to reduce the number of disruptions to customer supplies during this time however regrettably, as a customer whose property is adjacent (or nearby) to the water main which is being replaced, it is likely that your water supply will be interrupted for a short time, in this event we will notify you 48 hours in advance.

  • Our contractor is under instruction to maintain access at all times. However, whilst work is in progress immediately outside your home, it may be necessary to temporarily block your entrance. In these circumstances the contractor will contact you beforehand.

  • Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience that may result. If there is a particular difficulty with which we may be able to help, please call the Mains Renewal Team via our switchboard on 023 9249 9888 or email mainsrenewals@portsmouthwater.co.uk.

  • Request a detailed plan of the site affected directly from Portsmouth Water Reference H3955.
